 NOT a genuine Blackberry chargerSep 27, 2011

After years of buying cheap USB chargers off eBay, I purchased what I thought would be a genuine product from Amazon. However i was bitterly disappointed to see that it had the same problems as all the other knock-offs you can buy even cheaper elsewhere. I've had many genuine and fake chargers in my time and the differences are fairly easy to spot (see the photo I uploaded for a comparison):
1) Poor quality printing (slightly different color, not as accurate)
2) Different trash can icon
3) The USB port is flipped 180 degrees from the genuine charger
The most obvious (and worst) part is that the inferior quality filtering components leave a ripple voltage on the DC output. This causes strange touchscreen behavior while plugged in - things don't press where you want them to and it's difficult to drag & drop (sound familiar?). This is not particularly good for your electronics and even worse for your battery.
I would expect this kind of thing from eBay but I thought Amazon was a bit more selective in their vendors. Clearly I was wrong, and I will be returning this product.

While it looks nearly identical to the OEM one I have, it is clearly not a legit product. As someone else already pointed out, the trash can on the back looks slightly different. The face of the unit also has more of a grainy texture to it while the OEM one is smooth. Tapping on the side of the charger with a finger nail produces a more hollow sound than the OEM as well. The biggest negative is that the output of this product is only half of the OEM charger even though the label claims it to have the same output as the OEM device, so it will take you twice as long to charge your device. I verified this using a P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor. Consider yourself warned.

I used this overnight with my Apple iPod Touch. The power plug stayed cool, which inspires confidence.
I like the compact size of this plug. It does not monopolize a wall socket or power strip. Plus, it looks nice.
My plug did NOT ship with cables. This is not a complaint, just a comment regarding other reviews right here.

I got 3 of these to charge cells and Ipods... I tested them out right after recieving package. 2 worked. 3rd did not. When I went to remove from wall, 1 of the 2 prongs came out of the unit and stayed in wall..
Update 2 weeks later. Got the money back from the one. Now one of the working ones broke in same fashion. Don't waste your money. I tossed the third out of fear of my house burning down....

i purchased 2 of these for a new BB. 1 worked - 1 didn't. not sure what's wrong w/ the broken one - but i'm tossing it vs. sending it back. (shipping is more than $4)
